Witch Hole Pond Loop Trail, Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island Maine

Today I took hike around Witch Hole Pond.  The route I took was along the carriage trails.  Back when the area was the playground of the rich and famous, a Rockefeller built a bunch of trails for horse drawn carriages.   These are now used by the visitor to Acadia for hiking and biking.  We began at the Hull Cove Visitors Center.  The carriage trail begins at the far end of the parking lot.  The walk to the Pond is about .7 of a mile.  The carriage roads or trails are all flat improve trails that make for easy walking.

Once we reached Witch Pond we turned left and began a loop around the pond and back that was about five miles.  There are a number of streams in the area that have been beaver in them.  We saw several beaver lodges and ponds along the hike.
